ABOUT JOHANN
Creative Conservation
Over the two decades I have worked as a digital product developer and interaction designer both for agencies and as a freelance consultant. I set up Zanza Africa to take a fresh look at how software and digital technology is used and can benefit conservation organisations. AWith a creative approach lies the opportunity to think about information delivery in a more unique and potentially more digestible format.

I Love Novelty!
Creating, growing and development is where my heart lies. The pain of new gives me my energy
THE STORY
Over the past two decades I have worked extensively as a senior technology designer and design project lead at agencies, as well as internationally on my own creative endeavours. Apart from contract design work, I’ve also developed digital interactive kids works, worked on conservation technology projects and built large scale interactive light installations.
The Beginning
I studied Industrial Design and completed my masters in Digital Interaction Design. From 2006 I did freelance animation and programming on many projects.
The Interrupt Collective
Interrupt was a collective of digital-media artists, interaction designers, live video performers and sonic artists working across a range of live performance projects and installations I co-founded.
Galloping Tales
Galloping Tales are stories, games and interactive encounters in a world of shapes, masks and characters. Realised through Digital Puppetry, using X-Box Kinect technology we build many stage shows and traveled them internationally performing live on stage for 1000s of children
UJI Studios
I took my passion for creating digital interactive playspace for kids and turned it into a business that covered museum installations, play festivals and online interactives.
Playground Masterclass
The Masterclass Abroad was an outreach project, presented as a Masterclass in playground design with local and recycled materials through PlaygroundIdeas.org and UJI Studios.
Zanza Africa
We build innovative technology solutions for Conservation, including maker labs and product development.
